Because of its unique combination of surface chemistry and particle shape, our Minspar product line can be universally applied in water-based, high solids, and powder coating formulations. Finer Minspar grades are ideally suited for high glass coatings, while coarser grades are more appropriate for glass control and to add texture.

In clear films, Minspar provides matting in most resin types while maintaining its transparency. The refractive index is almost identical to most of the commonly used clear binders such as polyurethanes, epoxies, acrylics, etc. Virtually transparent in UV light, Minspar does not absorb or reflect radiation.

In oil, alkyd, and solvent-based systems, Minspar provides the low viscosity needed to meet high solids and low VOC requirements. Low in oil absorption, Minspar is also effective in high solids and powder coating applications where matting is desired and low viscosity must be maintained. In addition, Minspar delivers higher CPVC levels than most other extender minerals.

Mica

The Quartz Corp's mica product, P80F, is used as a pigment extender in paints and coatings. The properties of mica make it an excellent product to help keep pigment in suspension, reduce chalking and shrinking of finished surface, reduce water penetration, and improve brightness of colored pigments.
